I had an absolute blast playing this game, never has the term bull in a china shop been so fitting. If you took The Hulk, 28 Weeks Later, and Grand Theft Auto and somehow turned that into one game you'd have this.
Prototype puts you in the shoes of Alex Mercer, a government experiment gone wrong. You wake up in morgue with no memory only to find out that a leaked government virus has left the city teaming with zombies and you as an almost indestructible carnage like super soldier. You must crush and smash your way through the city to seek revenge. You'll fight everything from zombies or infected as i guess they like to be called these days, hunters which are similar to the lickers from Resident Evil, helicopter strike teams, tanks, and wave after wave of soldiers.
This game was just pure off the hook fun. I really can't stress that enough. There are so many cool moves your character can pull of and a bunch of cool powers. You can jump from buildings, run up walls, throws vehicles at people, hijack helicopters in mid air, hijack tanks, devour people for a health boost, swan dive from a building and wreak havoc on the poor suckers lucky enough to be near you when you hit pavement.
As far as powers go. You get wolverine like claws that allow you to dissect your foes like a hot knife going through butter. Elastic llimbs that let you rip those pesky choppers right out of the sky. Let me think here, what other crazy powers do you obtain. And my personal favorite, the ability to obsorb an enemy and copy their identity. This allows you to move amongst the masses unnoticed and if you clone a soldier you can call airstrikes. You have a move list rivaled only by fighting games.
The graphics are ok and the city isn't nearly as detailed or glamorous as say the city in GTA4, but I was too busy destroying the city and everything in it to stop and smell the roses anyway. I was surprised that with all the mayhem unfolding onscreen I didn't see any drop in frame rate which was sweet.
Story wise it could have been a little more engrossing. It was your run of the mill top secret government testing gone wrong plot. It had some of its own cool flourishes but for the most part its been there done that.
I put in around 18 hours and beat the game and got all of Mercer's moves and powers. So yeah, the game is a blast? Did I mention that.

That artwork you linked to are awesome! It reminds me of the Spawn comic books. It the concept artwork for the game are that good, the graphics quality probably doesn't matter as much. I'm looking forward to trying this out.
