6 Days in Fallujah is a game in development that puts you in the shoes of a soldier during the Fallujah battle in the Iraq War. The game is understandably quite controversial with many military families demanding it be shelved.
I'm kind of on the fence with this one. On one hand it does seem to soon to be making a game about a war that we are still fighting and losing American lives to. I can't imagine the pain these military families have suffered through after losing loved ones. Just for their sake I would most likely support having it done away with. Its one thing when you have overly sensitive parents complaining about the over the top violence of games like GTA, but when you turn on the tv and see the real life violence of war its quite sobering.
That being said, from what I have read the developers are in no way trying to underplay or desensitize the war. They simply want to give a realistic simulation of the battle while at the same time honoring our troops. Whether doing that through a game is appropriate is up for debate. And I actually watched an interview and they in fact have military consultants making sure the game is done as accurately as possible.
So like I said, I'm not really sure what my feelings are on this game. What do you think?
