Nintendo DSi

Nintendo DSi Black

Nintendo has released another edition of their handheld video gaming system. The specs are pretty good - its got an ARM9 cpu clocked at 133Mhz, two (2) digital cameras (!!), 16 megabytes of RAM (that's not enough in my humble opinion), 256 MB of flash NAND storage, and wifi.

Methinks that this device could run linux! Even debian linux! However, if you are looking for a small ARM9 device to run debian linux - I think that the Sheeva Plug is the way to go.

/drool. I want one of these so bad, but it was a choice between going to Depeche Mode or a DSi. I had to choose the concert since the DSi isn't a one chance only item.

They sacrificed battery life for size and updating the screen, so you can write on both sides, and I believe it's scratch resistant. Risky if you ask me - battery life is ultra important if it's out of power work what good is it? The added ability to the screen may be an acceptable enough balance to the loss. Not sure if it's a chargeable battery. You'd think it would be at this point it's more like a cell phone than a hand held game.

The 2.0 mega pixel camera is a huge draw. It faces the user and the outside world. You can manipulate images right on the DSi, makes for *serious* mischief.

The wireless capabilities of this little gadget fascinate me. How do they get away with not charging for the internet service? Is it really just like my laptop's wireless card?

I'm a nerd for options I love the powder blue model!
