Resident Evil 5

The long awaited sequel to Resident Evil 4 has finally hit this generation of consoles. I really enjoyed the game but it didn't wow me like I expected. The strength and weakness of the game is that it plays almost identically to the previous installment with a few minor tweaks. RE4 was amazing but I was expecting the formula to be added upon in a much bigger way this time around. The new co-op aspect is probably the main selling point, and while it makes the game a lot more fun and action oriented, the dread and sense of fear the series is known for have largely been removed.

The main character Chris is cool enough if somewhat of a stereotypical action hero. The story seemed pretty nonsensical for the most part, but all the hideous mutations resident evil is know for show up. The plot is very b movie in nature and revolves around another virus of some sort and the villain Wesker's plans to use it to cleanse the earth.

I think RE5 can pretty much be summed up as RE4 with co-op and prettier graphics. I had a blast with the game, but its still hard not to come away somewhat disappointed.
