Entertainment industries like music and movies are reporting losses these days, while on the other hand the video game industry is booming. Big companies are expanding and new businesses are being formed.
Keeping that in mind, it only makes sense that a school like ITT Technical Institute would offer a game design program. I'm pretty sure the program is relatively new, I know my particular campus in Norwood, MA only started offering the program last September. A lot of the people I go to school with at ITT are into video games so the decision was a no brainer.
Seeing as how I was pretty much brought up playing video games with my cousins and still play them in my early 20s I'm kind of leaning towards the field as a possible career choice. At the moment I'm going to school for Multimedia but am seriously considering their game design program after I get my associates in multimedia.
On a separate but related note I came across an interesting article that talks about Mass officials trying to lure game companies to the area to help boost the economy and provide jobs.
