Co-op Mode In First Person Shooters

The ever illusive co-op mode is one of my favorite things about gaming. Rather than have to pit my skill against the far twitchier thumbs of my opponent, I can bring them over to my side and use their skill to conquer a set of challenges laid out for us by the computer. It's nice to take a break from the competition.

Depending on the game, you have to be careful not to harm your partners. In Left 4 Dead (L4D) you can totally do damage to your teammates, a single shot only does about 1 point of damage, but it is possible to kill a teammate. Some games are up to four players co-op. Now most games have the option of being played locally or over the 'nets. Usually on the internet you can add even more players than if you were playing from home. The because each machine runs independently of each other and requires less memory to push the game.

I agree completely its much more enjoyable working with other players rather than competing against them. I find when you're competing you have a lot of clashing egos, nice to keep everybody on the same side for a change.
