We just picked up an extra head set to make playing online L4D co-op mode easier. We look absolutely ridiculous sitting on the couch each wearing a head set. I have fought this mode of gaming for years. Saying I didn't like the intrusion into my house. Usually this was because he wanted to wear a headset while raiding, and I felt like it transported him to another planet.
Now that the shoe is on another foot, and I find us playing games together, I finally see the need.
Being able to communicate with the non-local folks while gaming is a real advantage. I may even try COD4 given how much I feel like it will change the experience. I'm not a convert yet, but I'm getting there.

haha with some games you can get away with not using the headset, but in a game like Left 4 Dead its kind of a matter of life or death, literally.
