Debatably the 360s biggest franchise right behind Halo is Gears of War. I'm personally a fan of both, however, when Gears was released it really struck a chord with me. I loved everything about the franchise, the over the top violence, stellar graphics, cool heroes, and versatile multiplayer. The game just had so many water cooler moments. Everything from your first curb stomp to your first chainsaw kill. It just had so many features that had me wondering why developers hadn't tried stuff like this earlier.
The new game's under a month from its release date and I'm doing my best trying to keep myself occupied until then. It definitely ain't easy. I've been watching a bunch of Gears 2 videos and playing a healthy dose of Rainbow 6: Vegas 2 on live.
There are so many things I'm looking forward to in the new installment. I would be here all day if I took the time to flesh them all out, so I'll just focus on my favorite addition for the time being. Ladies and gentleman I'm talking about the new horde mode. Horde seems to be Epics baby when it comes to the new game.
Horde pits you and four other cogs(bots or other players) against increasingly difficult waves of locusts. Obviously wave 1 is a walk in the park, but you still have 49 more waves to tackle. Before you know it you'll be battling armies in a three hundred-esque war against insurmountable odds. This mode looks great. It's like a fresh take on old arcade style games. Think Galaga or Space Invaders with wave after wave of increasingly difficult enemies.
So needless to say once I actually get the game and play it, I'll write up a proper review. For now I'll just leave you with a little taste of things to come.
