I just read an article about a legal dispute between Microsoft and Immersion Corp., and since I had never heard of Immersion before, I decided to do a blog post about the company.
Immersion Corp. designs and invents "rumble packs", or as some like to say, tactile feedback technology. They create the technology and license out the intellectual property to gaming equipment manufacturers.
One of the main patents which Immersion holds is for the device I've already mentioned, the rumble pack, but they do have other patents, for non-gaming devices even. These non-gaming devices include cellphones, among other gadgets and appliances. They apparently hold over 600 patents.
