With Gears of War 2 being just months away, and the movie going into production soon, I've been pondering my dream matches for the cinematic version of one of my favorite games. With total creative control, I could make a totally rad Gears movie. So if I were in charge this is how it would go down.
Director - I have to give this one to Peter Jackson. On one hand the guy can craft some epic, adrenaline pumping action scenes as shown in his Lord of the Rings Trilogy. Another key ingredient vital to a great gears movie is plenty of the red stuff, and again in Dead Alive he proved in spades that he's up to the challenge of creating some seriously bloody arterial spray. And lastly, we need some some drama to give a little meaning to the mayhem and he accomplished this is the indie drama Heavenly Creatures. The guy is a jack of all trades perfectly suited to make this movie.
Marcus Phoenix - I'm going to give this role to Bruce Willis. Willis might need to bulk up a bit for the role, but I think he has the basic look and acting chops to pull off a great Marcus Phoenix.
Augustus Cole - I didn't even have to think twice about this, this role is going to Ving Rhames. He's the ultimate bad ass black dude.
Dominic Santiago - This one took a little brainstorming, but I decided to go with Freddy Rodriguez. Again, like Willis he may need to put on a little muscle mass, but I think he has the look and talent to make a killer Dom.
Damon Baird - I'm liking Ryan Reynolds as Baird, he's proven that he can hold his own in actions movies, which he proved in Blade Trinity. And he'll be great portraying Baird's wise ass charm.
Hoffman - Another no brainer. Give this role to R. Lee Ermey, he seems like he influenced the creation of the character in the first place.
