Call of Duty 5

Call of Duty 5 is on it's way, and it looks like the series is going back to World War 2. Yawn. Haven't we been down this road more than enough times. I'm pretty sure I've fought in every land, air, and sea battle possible in World War 2. I've fought on the beaches of Normandy more times than I'd care to remember. It's almost like a twisted version of the movie Ground Hog Day.

I remember when the first Medal of Honor game came out for the original Playstation, the World War 2 FPS concept was relatively fresh and new. The game was great, but with it came hordes of clones and ripoffs. Some worthy, many others not so much. At this point I'm completely bored with the genre now. I've been there and done that. I've killed all the nazis my little heart desired, fired all the weapons, and drove all the tanks. Really nothing left to see.

Modern warfare is where it's at now. Call of Duty 4 convinced me of that. I want heat seeking missiles, night vision goggles, flash bang grenades, and tricked out guns with laser scopes and grenade mounts. I need a fresh take on military conflict. So why they decided to ditch the amazing concept of COD4 and revert back to the tired WWII genre is beyond me. I just hope they get back on track with the next installment.
