Microsoft reduced the price of the XBox 360 to $299 on the 20GB model. My guess is that this is a strategic move to put pressure on Sony and their Playstation 3, which has already had a rough start.
They might also be planning something else... the XBox 360 has been around for awhile, and Christmas is coming up in a few months. Halo 3 has come and gone, followed by Grand Theft Auto 4.
