Gears of War 2 was officially given a release date by Epic Games a few days ago. Looks like the game will be shipping out on November 7, 2008.
The first installment is one of my favorite games of all time, so saying that I have high expectation for the follow up would be a bit of an understatement. From what I've seen it looks like Epic Games is working hard to keep the core formula intact, while at the same time adding all sorts of cool new features to make a killer sequel. For example, now in multiplayer you have the ability to frag tag your environment and use those grenades as makeshift proximity mines. You also have new weapons on the way, with my favorite being the flamethrower. Other additions that come to mind are human shields, poison grenades, 5 vs 5 multiplayer, horde mode, and new characters.
November can't come soon enough. I'm sure Epic Games will deliver the killer sequel that fans are expecting. Don't disappoint me boys.
