Grand Theft Auto 4 (GTA4) is making huge waves in the entertainment industry by raking in over $500 million in a single week. This is incredible and is sure to make film and music producers take a second look at this still maturing industry.
What's different about video games compared to music and movies? Its size and length that matters. Most video gamers log way more hours in a single game than they would with a movie or an album, and while they might pay more, the ultimate price per hour of entertainment comes out cheaper.
Given the problems that the music and film industries have had trying to sue their customers for lost revenue, resulting in more revenue losses, I wouldn't be surprised to see more top talent defecting to video games. Too bad for the top actors and actresses - most video game stars are computer generated!
