Finally Played a Wii

Wii is fun to play!

I finally got to play a Wii today at a relative's house. The controllers are awesome! We played Wii sports a lot of course: bowling, tennis, golf, and boxing. While I was pretty good at tennis, my wife kicked my butt at bowling. She got the angle right very quickly. Her brother also beat me at boxing, so I guess I'll stick to my knitting - blogs!

I also played Pokemon which actually had some pretty cool graphics, but was more of a strategy game and thus didn't have much controller activity. I also lost that game, but had fun anyway.

While the controllers were cool, you need a lot of room to avoid hitting other players by accident, especially when it came to bowling and golf.

Sonic the Hedgehog made an appearance too. The owner of the Wii had some Sonic comic books, and we also got to talking about the new Sonic and Mario Olympic Games video game. This is an interesting development as he explained it will be the first time a Nintendo and Sega character are in the same game. Wow!

Its definitely cool to see two of gaming's biggest icons going toe to toe on the same disc. Next I want to see Master Chief slug it out with Mario. Now that would be something to write about.

What do you think of Sonic? Is Sega still coming out with consoles?

I was never really a fan of Sonic, probably because I never owned any Sega systems. I'm pretty sure Sega's done as far as the console war is concerned. They struck out with the Sega Saturn, Sega CD, and finally the Dreamcast. They've probably finally accepted the fact that they can't compete with the likes of Nintendo, Sony, or Microsoft. So I assume they'll stick with making games. On a side note, Sonic appearing in a Nintendo game, is that not the ultimate sign of surrender.

Yeah I agree - the fact that Sega is allowing Sonic to appear in a Mario game suggests that they won't be making more consoles.
