Online gaming milestone

Shadowrun is a game that really isn't anything special. It was essentially just your average run of the mill shooter. In fact, it was actually a big disappointment to most people.

One thing that made Shadowrun stand out was the ability to have Xbox360 users compete with or against Windows Vista users. This is revolutionary because for the first time, a game can be played on line across two gaming platforms simultaneously. For example in a death match you could have 4 xbox users going up against 4 windows users.

The ability to do this, leaves room for so much potential. I can see it now. Huge battle royals pitting Xbox users, Playstation users, and Wii users against each other in a three way deathmatch for gaming supremacy. I hope that the gaming community takes this concept and runs with it. This would give the term "Console Wars" a whole new meaning.

Couldn't people do this with Final Fantasy 11?

Wasn't this done with Final Fantasy 11?

I don't know whether FF11 did that or not, but FF7 was one of my favorite games of all time. I miss playing that.

When it comes down to it, video game consoles are computers with restrictions, and really good controllers. As linux gets more embedded and involved in video games, the bridge between consoles and pcs will get bigger and better.
