PS3 just isn't selling - so they are finally cutting the price. The price is still too expensive for me. At that price, I'd just buy a PC. I've never been a fan of Sony products because almost everything they do is of a proprietary design.
In addition to the price cut, they also announced an 80GB hard drive. 80GB is tiny by today's standards of hard drives though - they are up to one terabyte in a single drive for consumers.

I was really disappointed with the PS3. The price drop is a plus, but they need better standalone games. Most of the good games for the playstation are also available for the 360.
PS3 will be awesome in about 2 years. Let's revisit this post in 2009.
Yeah I agree - the technology in it is good stuff, but like a lot of Sony marketing, the launch has not been very effective in the states.
